Community Service.

In addition to providing a wide range of services for our clients, Bill Caye is actively engaged in serving the public. He participates in Pittsburgh charitable projects, serves on non-profit boards and provides pro-bono legal services to local clients. This includes the Board of Governors of Duquesne University Law Alumni Association and Duquesne University Alumni Association, in addition to the South Fayette Board of Standards and Library Board. Bill is also a voting member of the Executive Board of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Western Chapter.

Bill Caye is involved in a variety of local organizations, to name a few, listed below are his roles in each of the following:

President, Pittsburgh Serra Club

  • Plan organization mission for sustainability 
  • Develop new communication and leadership models

Secretary, Pittsburgh Autism Speaks Board of Trustees

  • Assist in recruitment of diverse professionals with a passion for helping special people
  • Contribute to fundraising goals of the organization and sponsor community engagement events

Executive Board of Trustees, Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Western Chapter

  • Develop internship program and oversee diversity initiatives to grow and support the organization 
  • Counsel and advise current leadership on improving internal operations, marketing and governance matters

Board of Governors, for Duquesne University Law Alumni Association 

  • Engage and network with alumni, faculty, students and prospective students to promote the goals of the organization and mentor diverse law students with career development opportunities 
  • Collaborate with fellow Board members to implement strategies and solutions to improve quality of experience at the law school

Board of Trustees, Brookline Teen Outreach 

  • Promote public relations visibility and philanthropic fundraising efforts for the future sustainability of community teen education enrichment outreach initiatives 
  • Assist and problem solve with fellow Board members on expanding the positive influence of the organization to neighboring communities 

Cyril Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University, Guest Lecturer & Instructor

  • Prepare and design continuing legal education courses and training programs for professional compliance 
  • Present and teach critical professional CLE courses in areas of legal ethics, advocacy, and trending topics within the criminal justice system 

 

It is Bill’s belief that involvement in these endeavors is at the core of his culture and success.

In 2017, Bill Caye was nominated by a number of colleagues and lifelong friends for the Post-Gazette Jefferson Awards for volunteerism. He was also the recipient of the Salute to Legal Excellence award issued by Classic Events in 2017 for his legal work in the community representing children and seniors.

Moreover, Bill mentors younger attorneys and rather than shared or referral fees, he asks that they simply do their best to represent their clients and to ask for assistance when in doubt. He also takes on public speaking appearances for local charities and church or school programs, to freely lecture or present topics impacting the perception of the legal profession with the public.

Through defending people’s rights, promoting legal education and helping non-profit programs, Bill Caye encourages public service that benefits the community.
